Founded in 2012, Glass Box Tropicals initially specialized in terrarium and vivarium plants suited to accompany poison dart frogs.  We bred dart frogs at that time and had 40 species in 100 terrariums.  Since that time, we have developed our expertise in terrarium-suitable plants, as well as premium supplies for building and maintaining terrariums.

We have now grown to provide one of the largest selections of terrarium-specific plants available online. We also offer select, hard-to-find house plants, terrariums, and supplies for animal husbandry and terrarium construction.  Our plants and supplies are sourced from around the world in order to provide a vast selection for your personal rainforest creations.

We grow all of our plants under LED lighting, and we recommend that you do the same for your terrarium.  LEDs have become the industry standard due to their longevity, intensity, and low heat output.  Our current collection includes more than 400 different species and hybrids in more than 75 genera.  Our catalog of flora is consistently expanding, and we are always finding new terrarium-suitable plants from numerous global sources!

The globally-sourced terrarium supplies that we offer are the same supplies that we use in our own terrariums.  We carry the most diverse yet specialized selection of supplies available online.  It is very important to us to observe and move with hobby trends, in order to continue our supply of the most unique products to our customers.
