Description

Porcellionoides pruinosus 'Powder Blue' Isopods are an excellent choice for vivariums and make a great occasional snack for poison dart frogs and other small animals. Powder blue isopods have a softer body than some of the other species and have a faster reproduction time. Even though the powder blue species reproduces a bit faster than other larger species, it still does better if allowed to establish a population before animals large enough to eat the adults are introduced. As with the orange isopods, most adult dart frogs, except Phyllobates terribilis, will not eat the adult powder blue isopods due to their size.

The culture that is shipped may be used to seed a tank, or begin a master culture so that you will have a steady supply.

Glass Box Tropicals offers these in an 8oz. culture that contains mainly adults and a few juveniles. The substrate that that they are shipped in (and what they are bred in) is offered for sale under Feeder Insect Supplies. For complete care information please visit our Resource Center.

The cultures are started with approximately 15 isopods and are guaranteed to arrive with at least 12 live isopods.

All alive, moving around, big about 1/2” I believe the largest one was, I put them in my crested gecko vivarium and they hid fast, I’ve read these huge isopods are great for crested gecko vivarium.
Also they were packaged with a lot of newspaper and were well protected, almost like a “isopod spaceship “.
